About East Bearskin Lake Campground

East Bearskin Lake Campground is located on East Bearskin Lake at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It is a perfect choice for people who want the flavor of the Boundary Waters and the convenience of car camping. This campground has 32 sites including 4 camper cabins. Some sites are reservable and some are available on a first come/ first served basis. Sites 2, 20, 27, and 28 are rentable camper cabins named Alder, Aspen, Jack Pine and Tamarac. Each cabin has bunk space for 5 people, an indoor table, and porch. Three of the cabins (Aspen, Jack Pine and Tamarac) have a small loft which can be used as an additional sleeping area for two smaller people or to store gear out of the way. There are foam mattresses, but no bedding, cooking facilities, or bathrooms; bring sleeping gear, wash basin, and a cook stove. A boat ramp at the campground allows access to the lake by both motorboats and canoes. Be aware that the two eastern bays of East Bearskin Lake are within the BWCAW (Entry Point #64) and require permits for entry. Day permits for non-motorized use are available at the campground, but overnight and motor use permits must be applied for in advance.
