About Kalama Hc

Kalama Horse Camp is located just outside the west boundary of Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, on Forest Road 81. 27 sites accommodate primarily equestrian users, with nearby access to trails for horseback riding, hiking and biking. Sixteen reservable campsites are for equestrians with trailers only. There are ten first come, first serve, standard non-equestrian sites, and one host site. The campground loop trail allows easy access to the main trailhead which accesses Toutle Trail #238, Cinnamon Trail #204, and Fossil Trail #242. A trailhead parking area, found at the east end of the campground provides parking for day use. Over 50 miles of trails and closed roads are available from the campground. No potable water at this site. Water is suitable for horses only. Alert: During the shoulder season, early spring and late fall, there is NO garbage service at this facility. Be prepared to pack out all garbage.
