Motor vehicle use off of designated roads for the purpose of dispersed
camping is permitted on National Forest lands for up to 300 feet from the
centerline of the road allowing for the same vehicles as the road allows
and for the same season as the road is open.
It is prohibited to operate any vehicle off road in a manner which
damages or unreasonably disturbs the land, wildlife, or vegetative
resources. 36 CFR 261.15 (h).
