About Brewster Camp

Brewster Camp Rec Site is located along the Sayward Forest Canoe Route and it is also the start of the 34km Salmon Brewster Horse Trail. The rec site is divided by the Gray Lake FSR with one side being an open grassy area overlooking the lake channel while the other side has a more equestrian focus complete with horse corrals. Once the site of "the New Houses" associated with the old Camp 5 logging camp, this area is rich with history. A kiosk at Apple Point Recreation Site just down the road provides a picture of what life was like at 'Camp 5' in the 1950's. Sites 1-7 require a fee for service from May long weekend to Labor Day weekend each season. The horse corral area is not included in the fee structure while camping with horses. Please pack out what you pack in. All sites are first come, first served and payment on site is cash only. From Campbell River, travel north on Highway 19. Turn left onto Menzies Mainline for approx. 16.5kms, veer left onto Gray Lake FSR and the site is located a few hundred meters down the road on your right and left. OR Travel North on Hwy 19 from Campbell River, turning left onto Gordon Road, turn left on to the Brewster Lake Road, then right on the Loveland Bay Rd (gravel) and follow it for 10.8 kms to the 4-way junction. Turn left onto the Campbell Lake FSR for 14.5kms and stay straight onto the Gray Lake FSR for 5kms and the site is on your left.
