About Helen Lake

Located near the town of Houston this semi-open, forested, 7 unit, accessible campsite resides along the shore of a small and beautiful lake with views of a gorgeous treed hillside that seasonally turns vibrant with fall colours. Bears, moose and deer can often be seen feeding on fresh vegetation across the lake on the hillside in the spring. This site has some additional amenities including: some cellular service, accessible trail to accessible fishing dock (paid for by FFSBC and fishing licence $), gravel boat launch, picnic area and benches. The lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. There are several other lakes nearby that are worth visiting too. Cutthroat trout are abundant and are the predominant fish species, there are some rainbow trout as well. Typically fish are pan sized with high catch rate, so this lake is a great place for beginners and children, especially with the fishing dock. Please be sure to purchase a fishing licence and consult the BC Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis for limits, special regulations and closures: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sports-recreation-arts-and-culture/outdoor-recreation/fishing-and-hunting/freshwater-fishing/region_6_skeena.pdf At Hungry Hill Summit near Houston, turn off Hwy 16 onto Summit Lake W Rd and proceed about 5km, then turn left on Hidden Lake Forest Service Road, proceed about 650m and the site will be on your left hand side with the lake visible and access road marked with a 3 blade sign. There is an overflow/parking area on the right hand side of the road if site looks full.
