About Bonaparte Lake

Bonaparte Lake is the largest lake on the Bonaparte Plateau north of Kamloops and due to its depth the lake stays cool throughout the summer. The recreation site is situated on the west side of the lake and offers four campsites and a gravel cartop boat launch. This recreation site may be accessed either via Hwy 97 at 70 Mile House, or via Hwy 24 near Bridge Lake. From Hwy 97 in 70 Mile House, turn east onto 70 Mile-Green Lake/North Bonaparte Road. Follow this route for approximately 32 km, staying on the North Bonaparte (which becomes the 3200 Road) to about the 32-47 km marker, and turn right onto Young Lake Road. Follow Young Lake Road for about 11 km and then turn left onto the Eagan-Bonaparte Forest Service Road at the 37-09 km marker. Continue an additional 34 km and turn right onto the access road into Bonaparte Lake. The recreation site is reached in another 0.5 km. If you are travelling from Hwy 24, travel along Hwy 24 to Bridge Lake and turn south onto the Bridge Lake Business Route. From the Bridge Lake Store, take North Bonaparte Road and travel 2.2 km and then turn left onto the Eagan-Bonaparte Forest Service Road (3700 Road). After passing Eagan Lake, turn south onto the Chasm resource road - this is marked as the CHASM 88 km marker. Continue travelling southeast down the Chasm road to about the CHASM 77 km mark and turn left onto the access road for Bonaparte Lake. The recreation site is reached in another 0.5 km.
