This open, grassy recreation site is located on the northeast side of Fletcher Lake. This is a popular fishing destination that is easily accessible for most vehicles, even larger trailers and motorhomes. The lake is also a popular spot amongst locals for ice fishing during the winter. There are opportunities for bird watching here as well. Indigenous information: The Tsilhqot'in Nation refer to this area as Biny Gunchagh (pronounced Bee Goon-chaw), meaning "big lake." The Tsilhqot'in Nation have a population of over 4,000, and are comprised of six (6) individual communities - Tl'etinqox (Anaham), Tl'esqox (Toosey / Riske Creek), Tsideldel (Redstone), Xeni Gwet'in (Nemiah), Yunesit'in (Stone) and ?Esdilagh (Alexandria). The Fletcher Lake / Biny Gun Chaugh area is within the Yunesit'in caretaker area. From Williams Lake follow Hwy 20 for approximately 90 km to Hanceville. Turn left/south at Lee's Corner onto the Big Creek Road (700 Road). Follow the 700 Road for approximately 5 km to the junction with Taseko Lake Road, and turn left to stay on the Big Creek / 700 Road. Continue about another 21 km to about the 726 km mark, and turn right to enter the Fletcher Lake Recreation Site.
